Many people are not aware that some people with disabilities use alternate strategies to access the Internet. People who are blind, for example, use screen readers, a type of assistive technology that provides voice output of the text on the screen. Some people with mobility disabilities use alternatives to a mouse. If websites are designed in ways that are inaccessible to these technologies, people with disabilities are limited in the amount of information they can access through the Web.
